Before you start working on your annual marketing plan (departmental or personal), it’s a good idea to take a survey to figure out where you are in terms of AI adoption https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TM7Z6V2
Let me back up – sometime in September, for the last 25 years, I’ve opened up a document and called it something like “Next Year Plan.” After a bit of fantasizing about not being at that company by the Sales Kickoff or Annual Plan review, I’d start with three categories”
- Revenue goals by segment and product
- Initiatives/Plans, and
- Team Development
From consulting discussions and data from AI Advantage Assessment, it’s pretty clear AI will be a major thread for marketing leaders in the final two categories of their annual plan. Your new initiatives will need to include new AI components and existing initiatives should get cheaper because of AI. Your Team Development tactics should have continued elements around enablement and goals for hiring people with better AI skills than you currently have.
Change is still coming, out of >7000 use case responses to the AI Advantage Assessment, almost 5000 of those were in the category of “Not yet” or “Planning to”. Even conservatively, that likely means another year of big change.
But marketing leaders are trying to approach this year’s AI in Marketing plan with a bit more maturity than the last two years. Instead of being reactive, it is probably a good idea to figure out where you are in terms of AI use and what might be the next logical use cases to adopt.
If you are interested in getting that independent view of where your current AI adoption stands and what others like you have done next, take this survey and we’ll send you a free personalized analysis of your AI adoption, what areas are you ahead and behind in, and what areas make sense to try out next (based on the experience of your peers).
